    Much better than expected.This little plasma ball is perfect for a night-stand toy. It's compact but not too small, has tons of cool plasma in it and it's quiet. If you've ever heard the hum of a large plasma ball you won't think my comment is so weird.It also appears to be fairly durable. 4fantastic plasma effects for small size!My daughter wanted one of these for her room so I started looking at the smaller sizes online. I had seen firsthand how some of them were woefully un-exciting so the earlier reviews gave me hope on this model. I can say that the reviews were spot on!When not touched, there are approximately 20-25 bright arcs crawling around inside the sphere. When you touch the globe, the arcs converge into one very bright one at the contact point and maybe one or two heading elsewhere. Suffice to say, brightness and power of the effect far surpassed my guesses for a sphere this size. Well worth more than the small price tag! 5Science and light show all in one!So cool, brings out the latent hippie in you. I remember when these came out in the 70's. You can sit and run your hand over it and watch the light show. It will even light up a fluorescent light bulb when you bring it near. 5Love it!It's small. It's great. All my friends love it, they think its really cool. The globe is made of plastic not glass, and it gets hot sometimes. I think it would break pretty easily so not for younger kids (my mom said to say that). 5Great small plasma ballIt's my belief that this is the best deal going, at time of this writing, in plasma balls suitable as gifts for children. Both of my children are fascinated by this and play with it frequently. It is very small, but fine for a desk or use by a child.In terms of its function, it's pretty much like every other plasma ball I've used, so there's not much to rate. The picture in the listing is pretty accurate. It's a pretty blue-red-purple ball which responds to touch. 5A fun learning toolThe item does exactly as it says and is very fascinating for kids. A fun learning tool. It is a bit delicate and feels like it weighs mere ounces. As long as it is kept on a table or shelf it is fine. Kids should not walk around with it to avoid an accident. It's not the type of toy they can take on the bus to show off at school unless packaged very, very well. One other point is when you try to surround the ball with as much of your hands and arms all at once, you will feel a slight shock. Kids should only use their finger tips. The looks of amazement over the tiny bolts of lightning following their fingers around are spectacular. Very cool toy, just very delicate. 5... bedroom so I could just plug it in and enjoy. It is a glorious device that provided me ...I used one similar to this one to make my son's Halloween costume and was so enamored with it that I ordered this one for my bedroom so I could just plug it in and enjoy. It is a glorious device that provided me much pleasure. 5Delivered broken.I loved the idea of the much smaller size, but it was DOA. Plugged in, turned on, and absolutely nothing happened. Very poor quality. Suspect product had been opened before, possibly an earlier return? 1Just stopped working after 6 mos.We purchased this for my 10 yr old to replace another plasma ball that my younger child broke. This one was not as bright, and after about 6 mos of night-time-only use, it just stopped working. I wish I could find the one we owned previously, this was not a good replacement. 2Great Value, Bright, Easy to SeeThis is used rather like a night light of sorts, and runs continuously. Given the price, I'm always pleased to see that it's still working. I have another larger version of this device but it sits in a box unused due to the noise it makes when used. This globe is completely quiet. 4
