Customer Reviews

Five StarsVery simple 5A fairly easy soldering project. This is a relatively simple kit to put together with a couple caveats.1. The board is very very small, and hence the components you are soldering will be very close together. You will have to have a bit of soldering skill and a soldering iron with a small enough tip to get solder where you need it so as not to create solder bridges.2. The board is clearly labeled so you know where all the components go, and the components are relatively easy to identify except the resistors (if you are colorblind). So you will need a multimeter if you cannot tell the resistance values from the stripes on the resistors themselves.Otherwise it is a straightforward kit to put together. I consider myself to have middle of the road soldering skills, and it took me about an hour to get it put together. It is also a good idea to have a pair of wire cutters that can cut very small wires and snip the ends off the components once you get them soldered into the board. If you cannot cut them close enough to the board you will not be able to screw the board onto the piece that holds the battery. 4Fun, easy to build as all Velleman kits so farFun, easy to build. Every time I ask it if I am going to be wealthy, it always says "NO". Oh, well, anyway, had fun building it. 5FUN KIT, BUT WAFFLES JUST LIKE A REAL PERSONThis is an electronic version of the "Magic Eight Ball," only better -- it always gives you an answer instead of saying stuff like "answer unclear" or "cannot tell you now." The odds of the answer being correct, however, are about 50:50.Some may have higher expectations than that, but in my experience, this level of performance is no worse than you can expect from a close friend. And just like a friend, very often the unit will seem to have "made up its mind," only to flip from YES to NO (or vice versa) just as it's fading out (or say, after a few drinks). So you'll have to come up with your own "rule of thumb" as to what the unit (or your friend) "really" meant to tell you.MK-135 is a fun build and very compact. However, several of the pads on the PCB are very close together, and you will also have to clip the leads very closely so the battery holder will sit flush when you screw it to the back. If you have no experience soldering at all and are looking for a first project, Velleman has several others to offer that are a lot more forgiving. 5FunFun to build and use 5Great practiceWorks great! Im barely getting into hobby electronics and got this as a cheap project to practice soldering. Definitely fun and easy to put together. 5although the PCB quality could be better.Given to a colleague as a gift. Basic assembly skills required, all in a all a well made kit, although the PCB quality could be better. 5Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!Who doesn't need help with major life decisions? This is a nice kit that will help you get those nagging questions answered quickly.Made of quality components it comes with clear instructions. The board is well laid out though quite small, a bit of soldering skill will be required to avoid solder bridges. Clear markers to show where all components go. Worked first go. This one is a really good example of an alternative use of standard integrated circuits. Also nice that an IC socket is supplied. Circuit diagram is supplied.Press the button and wait for the lights to stop for a yes (green) or no (red) regarding your most vital life decisions.Well done Velleman, on another nice little kit, and a great life aid! 5Easy to build. Don't let it hold your fate. The it was very easy to assemble. The instructions were very clear on what to do and how to do it. The board is very good and easy to solder. I used a 30 watt soldering iron with lead free 60/40 rosin core solder. Nothing fancy. The components were in good shape. On the other hand the decisions this thing makes are very flawed. Such as, should I be a nice person? No. Should I trust a stranger with my life savings? Yes. Should I trust this piece of technology. No. At least it's honest. 5GrateSo much fun 5
