Customer Reviews

Good but not very durableFits good, comes with mounting screws, has no stickers to match the originals but the real issue is how easily these cowls break. They can scuff the grass on landing and crack into pieces. They work fine but I wish they were a little more durable. Iv gone through about 5 cowls on my supercub and have never had to replace anything else. The nose of the plane is what is most likely to be hitting the ground the most so id like to find a cowl with the same fit, mounting screws, replacement stickers, and a more durable plastic. 3Super cub cowlAfter crashing my super cub several times, it was time for a new cowl. This is the right thing, but it's not very durable. After getting several of these, I discovered that even light crashes can crack the thin plastic. I'd recommend adding clear tape on the inside and outside (boxing tape works well) for reinforcement. This will prevent the plastic from shattering into small pieces which easily get lost. Doesn't come with the stickers, have to get those separately :( 3Expendable. Flimsy. Important. If you're starting out with a Super Cub, stock up.A previous reviewer suggested that one could fly without the cowl. Tightwad expert pilots might want to save a few bucks by going cowl-less, but for the beginner (and let's face it, the Super Cub's aimed at the beginning flyer), it's a necessary item, so stock up. When you nose in -- and you *will* nose in -- the cowl acts as ablative protector for the motor, gearbox and firewall. In short, it sacrifices itself to protect the more expensive bits it surrounds. 20 bucks for a new motor and gearbox vs. a couple of dollars for one of these? It's cheap insurance. Most other parts on the Super Cub are easily repaired with glue and tape. Some have suggested lining the interior of the cowl with packing tape, saying that it keeps the flimsy piece from coming apart on impact. I haven't done it yet, but on my next go-'round, I figure I might as well try it. That said, I do wish the damn things were a bit sturdier or quicker to swap on and off. 2Would be nice if they included the decals to make the plane ...Would be nice if they included the decals to make the plane look new again, but hey, it's functional... I've had to replace two of these so far so I'm glad it's readily available any time I need a new one... 4Super Cub CowlsI ordered three replacement cowls for the Super Cub since that is the most likely part of the plane to break in rough landings. The cowls arrived neatly packaged, without any damage. The delivery was quick and secure and I would buy from this vender again. 5These are a necessary itemWhen you can, pick up a few of these to keep the plane looking good. These are the part that take the beatings when you nose over on a landing. Get a few and be careful and you will have a great looking plane for a long time to come. Yes when you convert of brushless (and you will) - the cowling still fits just perfectly. These and the gear boxes are the parts that take the hits so order a couple of each and and you will have a great amount of flying fun. 5no PaintI would pay extra if they would paint it to match the original. They are plain white and fit well but look like a replacement becasue the paint lines do not continue over them. 3They work great! These are always a perfect fit and definitely worth it if you like aerodynamics and esthetics! They are a little thin material wise but then again they do need to save you some weight while adding the aerodynamic properties and looks to your Cub. They flex well but given a sharp strike they will crack pretty easy but nothing a little clear packaging tape cant fix! I plan on experimenting with spraying the inside with a clear acrylic liner to see if it adds a little more stiffness but then again I could just become a better pilot and quick running into stuff with it! Yea, ill try that first. In the meantime I will just keep a few of these and some tape on hand! 4Five Starsthey are molded better than what came with my plane. 5Five StarsArrived in perfect condition and had it installed in about 10 minutes. Thanks 5
