Customer Reviews

Hard, but rewardingI tackled this after my 14-year old gave up. Definitely a puzzle, not a model, since there are no instructions other than matching numbers to pieces. I did the whole thing without glue (probably took about 4 hours), but some glue would be helpful to make sure things stay together, especially the planes. Not everything fits together well, making pocket-knife trimming necessary.More for a puzzle-type person, rather than a model-type. 4Fun puzzle, about four hour build time, big and looks like pictureThis one was cut out pretty well, only a few splintered pieces from the spots that hold the pieces in the sheet. It's big, almost two feet long. There is extra planes so you can put some between the deck, on the lower deck before top gets put on. I'd glue these in place. The elevator deck piece is miss labeled but it's the only one that fits the spot. Would be nice to have a couple different views for assembly. About five pieces aren't numbered so have to figure that out. Only real complaint is not knowing proper orientation of some pieces. I glue all of mine with super glue once mostly assembled and this one didn't need much to hold it together but a couple spots, both decks and rear piece needed held for a while to hold.Overall I like it, it looks good assembled and I had fun putting it together. Watching tv and being somewhat distracted it took about four hours to complete. Buy a bottle of super glue, longer tip is better, and don't use it until you know for sure nothing needs to move to fit. Five sheets of plywood hold all the pieces. Very little sanding required. These are to resemble the real thing not be scale or exact replicas so keep that in mind assembling, they aren't perfect but will look perfect when finishedI do not suggest for a persons first kit like this. It's almost two feet long eight inches high and wide 5Horrible!Horrible. The directions(if you want to call them that) simply says match numbers. I tried for hours to put this together and ended up throwing in the trash! Easily the worst $ I have spent on Amazon. Do not buy this! You will regret it. Very unfortunate, as I wanted to love it. Only honest thing about this is calling it a puzzle. It was like tring to do a puzzle where every piece is the same color! Never again. 1Great projectI bought this for a present for my 11 year old nephew. He likes puzzles and this is a great theme and great project over the Christmas break. I also like that you can paint it after it is put together. 5The price says it allDirections do not make this an easy project. It is not 80 pieces as listed, more than double that at 170 pieces. The stamped holes are not big enough for the part that goes in them at times and trying to force the pieces together causes other pieces to fall apart or the flimsey material to break. I'm sure this can be a fun and rewarding project. For the price you can be challenged for an evening. 2Not for kids.Difficult to instal for two capable, adult men. Impossible for a child. Disappointed kid on Christmas. We two men had fun though, which is why I gave it an extra star and marked it as "OK". Also, it now sits on my kids desk, but he's totally over models as a hobby thanks to this gem. 3Loved the puzzleLoved the puzzle. But that bit about not needing tools or glue is BS. I guess they make so many of these that the tolerances on the cutting machine aren't what they should be. That little one inch square of sand-paper only goes so far. But I've done a lot of these models now, and I keep a cheap package of sandpaper on hand to fine tune the ends. And if you don't want it to fall apart, I recommend Gorilla glue. I use the blue topped super glue since it doesn't foam up. So, glue, a decent hobby knife, and sand paper. 5Not for small kids. This is a tough one to assemble. The instructions are minimal at best. You have to just go by the pictures andkind of follow the numbers. For someone into model building this canbe a good project. Don't get it for someonenot into models.I would recommend assembling this in stages.Once you know just how a section goes togetherand are sure it will not have to be taken apart, thenglue it together for a permanent to stabilize it.The wood can be fragile. I had to use an Exacto knifeon a few parts to get them out of the main board. Not to much sanding is really necessary. It can be painted for added realism. It is quite large and impressive looking when it is done. 4Better than building blocks!Very cool! This was bought for my 8 year old son. These wood puzzles are new to him so he needed a little help at first. These are great for kids that need something a little more challenging than legos and you sure can't beat the price. 5Patience!This is a great project for my 10 year old. He loves building these 3-D puzzles and this is a great one. Has lots of parts and requires some patience but a great thing to teach kids anyway. 5
